Blue Bonnet Cafe Review

Grandma Rating: 1 out of 5 Werther's

As Texas newbies, we were excited about Blue Bonnet season and set out each weekend starting in mid-March to find where they might be in bloom.  A friend suggested we visit the Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls.

When we arrived at the Blue Bonnet Cafe we felt like we must be in for a real taste treat as there was a long line of people waiting to get in.  Folks in line told us they visit the Blue Bonnet Cafe every week and that it is a "must eat" location.

The truth of our experience at the Blue Bonnet Cafe can be summed up in just one word: BLAND. We ordered Turkey and Dressing special served with cranberry sauce and three sides and is only offered on Sundays and the Fried Texas Farm-Raised Catfish Fillets (2 pieces) served with three sides. We also ordered a slice of peanut butter pie.

Not to be rude, but if we had put a blindfold on and eaten anything put in front of us it would all taste exactly the same, bland and lacking any flavor.  Even the pie was subpar. I've eaten better meals at Shoney's back in the day when I was a single mom on welfare going to restaurants on "kids eat free" nights.

After the disappointing dining experience, I started researching reviews and saw that I was not the only patron less than impressed.

If you like food that is bland, an atmosphere that is crowded, hurried, and loud...this is the place for you.  As for us, we do not recommend the Blue Bonnet Cafe and will not return.

On the plus side we did get to see some honest to goodness Texas Blue Bonnets! YAY!
