Broccoli Rice Casserole

 Grandma Rating: 5 out of 5 Werther's

This recipe is a combination of several recipes that all sucked because of the ingredients used. One, they used instant rice (kill me now). Two, they used frozen broccoli (seriously?!). Three, they used cheese wiz. Did you read that?! Cheese wiz! I can't even with this idiocy.

My grandmother was not a pleasant person. Among other things, she hated sharing her recipes because other people would bastardize them by not following the recipe exactly. So, as RuPaul says, "Don't F*uck It Up!"

Seriously. Don't f*ck it up!

3 cups fresh steamed broccoli (not frozen)
3 cups cooked Jasmine rice (not instant)
1 stick butter (not margarine)
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups mild cheddar cheese (shredded)

  • Cook Jasmine rice.
  • Steam broccoli.
  • In a large skillet melt 1 stick of butter over medium heat
  • Add onions and cook until just translucent
  • Add soup and cheese
  • Stir until blended
  • Add cooked rice
  • Stir
  • Add steamed broccoli
  • Stir gently
  • Place mixture into a casserole dish
  • Bake, uncovered at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes
